Episode 14, "Tsubasa Cat - Part 4," also planned for sixth Blu-ray/DVD

The official website for the television anime adaptation of NisiOisin's Bakemonogatari light novels has posted a new interview with director Akiyuki Shinbo and producers Mitsutoshi Kubota and Atsuhiro Iwakami on Friday. In the interview, Iwakami said that the staff plans to finish the second unaired episode, "Tsubasa Cat - Part 4," in the middle of next week. He apologized for the delay after noting that the staff had previously promised to complete the episode in the middle of January. He also confirmed that the episode will be streamed on the official website just as the first unaired episode had been.

As the 14th overall episode, "Tsubasa Cat - Part 4" will be included on the sixth Blu-ray Disc/DVD volume, "Tsubasa Cat Volume II," in Japan. The official website posted the cover image (pictured at right) for this volume, which will ship on March 24.

Latest volume is #1 selling TV anime BD to date; trails below Eva 1.1 film

The Oricon survey firm reports that the fourth volume of the Bakemonogatari anime series is the top-selling television anime Blu-ray Disc in Japan so far. It sold 48,000 copies to top the previous recordholder — volume 3 at 41,000 copies in November. For all anime Blu-ray Discs, it only trails the Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone film, which sold 49,000 copies in its first week.

The first volume of Bakemonogatari sold 29,000 Blu-ray Discs in just its first week in September, and the second volume sold 39,000. All told, the series has sold 198,000 Blu-ray Discs so far.

Bakemonogatari's 1st Unaired Episode Online on October 28

Bakemonogatari's 1st Unaired Episode Online on October 28

32-second preview already online for first of three unaired episodes

The official website for the television anime adaptation of NisiOisin's Bakemonogatari light novels has announced on Monday that it will distribute the unaired "Tsubasa Cat - Part 3" episode on October 28. The website has already been streaming a 32-second preview for this episode since September 25.

The television run of the anime ended on September 25 with the 12th episode, "Tsubasa Cat - Part 2," but the official website confirmed on September 25 that Parts 3 through 5 will be distributed online, one episode after the other. In a July interview, director Akiyuki Shinbo mentioned his plans to animate 15 episodes. However, the Japanese broadcasting schedule usually allows only 12 to 13 episodes per cours (13-week block). Because of this, Shinbo said that the staff at the SHAFT anime studio would probably air the first 12 episodes, and distribute the remaining three episodes on the official homepage for free.
