Anime Network Launches iPhone Streaming Application
posted on 2010-01-15 23:43 ESTThe Anime Network video-on-demand service has announced on Twitter and on its website on Friday that it has launched a downloadable app for streaming anime on the iPod Touch and iPhone mobile devices with its partner with ZooVision Entertainment, LLC.
Purchase of the US$6.99 app gives users a 30-day subscription with unlimited access to all of the anime episodes and movies available, and access to wallpapers to install on their device. New episodes and films will be added each week. The app uses HTTP video streaming, and adjusts to the video quality based on the user's connection speed. Users can access the service as long as they have a 3G or a Wi-Fi connection. Users will be able to extend their subscription after the included 30-day subscription with a separate purchase.
Users must be at least 17 years of age to download the app.
The Anime Network is currently offering the following anime through its new app:
- Appleseed
- Azumanga Daioh
- Conduct Zero
- E’s Otherwise
- Kiba
- Lady Death
- Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
- Megaman
- My Beautiful Girl Mari
- Nadesico The Movie
- New Fist of the North Star
- The Place Promised in Our Early Days
- RahXephon
- Saiyuki
- Saiyuki: Requiem
- SIN
ADV Films, the anime distributor that once shared the same parent company as The Anime Network, began steaming anime on the iPhone and iPod Touch through the free vSNAX Videos application in 2008. However, vSNAX no longer has anime titles from ADV Films.
