Fujoshi no Hinkaku Essay Manga Gets Flash Anime
posted on 2010-02-16 01:57 ESTThe Fujoshi no Hinkaku essay manga is being adapted into an original Flash anime that will ship on DVD in Japan on February 26. As the "bible of fujoshi," the manga reveals the insight of fujoshi (boys-love Otaku), as personified by a 24-year-old novice fan named Fujoko and her 29-year-old work sempai named Takayo — who is secretly a fujoshi.
The artist of the original manga is a Tokyo native who has been a fujoshi for 15 years and goes by the pen name "Kusame." "Kusame" uses yet another pen name — "Reno Amagi" — to create her own boys-love manga. The original Fujoshi no Hinkaku manga even includes a fujoshi shopping map of the infamous "Otome Road" neighborhood in Tokyo's Ikebukuro ward and recipes for moe bentō (boxed meals).
Yūji Umoto is writing and directing the 31-minute anime at the Panda Factory studio after overseeing another manga-based Flash anime, Kemono to Chat. Liverpool, Umoto's Usagi-Ō, Pantograph, and Studio Pu-Yukai are also involved in the production.
Kei Shindou and Yuki Matsuoka will star as Fujoko and Takayo, respectively. The DVD will include the bonus anime extra "Nanairo no Shacho," in which Hiro Shimono and Shinichiro Miki play the characters Shacho and Semu, respectively.
